Our Story
For nearly 100 years, faith and city have connected at New Hope. We are a multicultural and multi-generational community sharing the love of Jesus with our neighbours. Situated in an urban multi-cultural setting, New Hope ministers to people in a dynamic and compelling way.

In all that we do, Jesus Christ is the centre of our attention and worship. He is our guide and reason for our mission. We desire that others would know the good news that only Jesus brings in life-changing ways. Our guidance rests fully on the Scriptures. We are a safe place to explore faith, ask questions, engage in dialogue and be strengthened by discussion. We are a community on a journey with Jesus and our desire is to walk alongside others, wherever you may be in your spiritual journey.

We welcome you to New Hope Community Church. Our service starts every Sunday at 10:30 am. We also have children and youth Sunday School provided for your kids during the service. On that note, we would be honoured for you to join us.
Our Heritage
Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
Rev. Lloyd Eby was sent from Kitchener to Toronto in 1914 to begin Sunday School classes (held in a building on Dufferin Street near to the current laneway into the now parking lot) and start a church in the City of York. The building at 48 Bloem Avenue was finished in 1919, and in 1950 another was built on Scott Road called Silverthorne Church.
The congregations ministered to many hundreds of people over the years. In 1977 the two congregations merged and became the Toronto United Brethren Church, with the Silverthorne building sold.
A two-story parsonage was built in 1980 at the back of the church, and many pastors and their families have lived there up until the present day.
In 2001 the church changed its name to New Hope Community Church to increase its appeal to the community. It has been a congregation of great faith and service to Christ for over 100 years.
“For I do not want you to be ignorant of the fact, brothers, that our forefathers were all under the cloud and that they all passed through the sea. They were all baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the
sea. They all ate the same spiritual food and drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ. Nevertheless, God was not pleased with most of them; their bodies were scattered over the desert. . .These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the fulfillment of the ages has come!”
